Serious bizness tonight! Hellfire D-E-S-T-R-O-Y-E-D it. K!R started the night off on some sick dubstep as well def enjoyed it. Fun times good people silly antics. moment of the night Disko trying to hold me up with a video game shotgun and a out of order sign taped to his head. On the downside. Not to sound douchy but seriously 90-95% of you MC's need to give it a rest. same rhyme schemes and same flows Over EVERY track. Jumping on other Dj's sets when you dont have the status to be doing that. Know you guys mean well but damn man. Cant enjoy certain acts when ya guys are rambling sometimes. Especially when said acts are dropping tracks with MC's already on them. Other than that had a really fun time out even though I was retardedly sick and should have been in bed.

Ps. sorry vogel I missed most ur set. but the dubstep was calling me.

I know this is dumb late, but I absolutely loved this show. Being a BIG DnB/Dubstep fan kept me locked in the main room from the second I walked in. f*ckin Wu Tang mix ... who the f*ck would have thought! The breaks afterward were just some nice smooth icing on an already outstanding cake.

Everyone did an amazing job, including the MCs (bigups) and I can't wait to see you guys at the next event.

Great job Mikey and everyone who was involved in bringing this show together! I'll see you at the next show!

first couple didnt unless they werent labeled as mcs, i was just giving examples of the way labeling is used to describe the performers...
SMD Posted - 02/18/2010 : 4:37:37 PM
on the official jams you posted they all had MCs on the flyer
Sean Place Posted - 02/18/2010 : 4:09:20 PM

its trivial and i believe that credit is due to anyone involved but thats why they make things specific to the event... im not trying to argue anything...
SMD Posted - 02/18/2010 : 12:09:27 PM
where are these flyers you speak of
Sean Place Posted - 02/18/2010 : 11:20:39 AM
not to discredit anyone but a lot of drum n bass/jungle fliers don't even have MCs listed on them. If they do its Dj someone feat. Mc someone else OR some such party HOSTED by MC yada yada. There is a reason people make fliers, so people know what to expect when they get there. I for one pride myself in being specific on my fliers. Like I said, my only gripe is when MCs just blah blah blah over the music without even working with the drops and samples or they are rhyming over someone without thier knowledge or permission. Just shows lack of talent and respect. bottom line, we are all artists and deserve credit where credit is due. there is no final say in who is good, what is bad, why we do what we do. its all opinion, MC or otherwise and the review section should be use to help further your artist abilites through critique. so lets do that.

One last thing on this, I feel like theres about 5-10 people, mainly people on this forum who aren't INTO MCing; and I personally wouldn't want to even be on any other kind of set besides DnB or Dubstep so I can see your point on that; but if you truly are a Drum and Bass head/ junglist and you hate on MCs you probably wouldn't like going to a REAL Jungle party; in Spain, the UK guys (AKA the creators of Drum and Bass) had about 4 people on the mic at a time and hardly ever quiet down; and if you haven't the opportunity to go there, go see how they do it in Toronto; or do yourself a favor and just download a mix and see if the MCs are rapping on the breakdown, GOD FORBID you Rap on the quietest part of a track to add to the buildup before a drop, That just makes absolutely NOOOO sense musically (I hope you can sense the sarcasm there)
I really am embarrassed to be in this argument, and I really don't even want to argue it because it seems futile really. But I know that hating is a natural part of getting bigger, so that's fine; I'll leave you with an old lyric this reminds me of;
ever since a late teen/ I had a great scheme/ to make green and skate clean and make dream come true/ some hate me but f*ck you/ I'm great g so what's new/ but lately I LOVE you cuz hate be my jet fuel

so my sincerest thank yous for all criticism in the above thread, you've just inspired me to make more and continue to get better :)
(i don't mean to come off as a pompous ass either, but I take pride in what I do and for good reason, so just setting shit straight here)

You should take pride in what you do! But you should also not be on here trying to say that people who don't like mc's aren't going to like a "true jungle party" - THAT'S being a "pompous ass" (your words...)

There's a way to do it so it sounds good on a break - & there's a way to do it so it sounds like the MC is just screaming "memememememememememememememememe!!! Everybody look at mememememememememememememe!!!"... Do u see the difference??? IMO it sounds best if an MC is hyping up the crowd during a break/build up - not acting like there was no change in the music at all! Recognizing the difference between changes & adjusting your vocals accordingly makes a BIG difference in how good an MC sounds & I KNOW I'm not one of "only 5" people on here that think so...

Now - let me also say - I never thought you were a bad MC - in fact - I usually kinda like listening to you (I've even tried to convince people to book you specifically!) - and I was never attacking anyone on here at all - but it seems like you were a lil threatened by other people on this board & felt like dragging what I said into the middle of it all. Recognize who was criticizing you before you bring unnecessary anger towards the wrong people!!! Accepting criticism from other people and improving from it only helps you in the long run to become better at everything you do. Lashing out on the other hand - makes you look weak - & assuming that people don't like "real jungle parties" cause they don't like MC's IS lashing out...

How come everytime I check a review thread it's somehow turned into a battle of ppl arguing SOMETHING????

WTF guys??? What happened to PLUR!!! lol

I'm sorry :)

(I still think a jungle party ain't a party w/ out an MC tho, although it can be done, most don't do it)

WHOA! I haven't posted in so long! But this party was so kick ass I couldn't resist!! Well Parkay, AMAZING time once again, as always!!! Thank you, thank you :)
Wow, I thought this was an event review though?! AND I <3 MC's. I <3 DnB and Dubstep, think MCing over anything but is pretty lame AS WELL... But maybe that convo should be in another thread?

If you re-read what I posted- what I was saying is that you were giving props about the out of town dnb acts to the ppl that were not into the MCing but then you were down playing the local dnb djs. I dont see why they got brought into the mc debate.
Because the local dnb djs are not going to worship these guys on your stage if you are downplaying them.

Im saying that the condecension was noticed and since you are not a dnb enthusiast yourself then you should not be trying to break down the dnb scene here because you have it all wrong with that.

drum n bass djs do not downplay each other, you should never do that.

I do agree about fort chaos in the sense that you can hold a *private party* there,
but you simply cannot openly promote an event in a place that is un-licensed.

what I do not understand is why all that scrutinizing info about alcohol was blown open on here?!?

that is something that you should not do

Na I feel you. . and thats why it was edited.. I didn't mean that as harshly as it came out bad choice of words.. HOWEVER, Todd regardless of the Turnout STILL made the RIGHT choice bringing Bryan to Bubbles.. Sometimes its not about the illusion of packed.. or the money its about the safety and control of your enviroment.. Those 45 people got the drink, dance, and look at pretty lights w/out the risk of nonsense.. and he made the right move good turnout or bad..
