What's up Upstate New York! On Saturday, Feb 13th, 2010.. It's time for a war.. A war against the stale, the slow and the lathargic So get your f*cking ass over to the Bubble Nightclub. It's time for a wake up call to anyone dropping beats under 160 and we are hitting them with the heavy shit!
Upstate get ready.. It's Time for us and the bassbins to ruuuuuuuuuumble!
Vibe315 in assocation with UMC, Gettup Massive and Glow FINALLY presents..
Weapons of Wax Destruction! Saturday, Feb 13th, 2010 Bubble NightClub 208 West Genesee Street Syracuse Syracuse, NY 13202 18+/21 to Drink - 9pm-4am $15 at the door before midnight, more after. GET THERE EARLY THEN, HUH?
BRYAN GEE 12:00AM-3:00AM - Drum & Bass! Movement/V Recordings/UMC - United Kingdom Bryan Gee has been at the forefront of dance music since the beginning and a crucial influence in the evolution of global drum n bass. From being part of the elite group of pioneering DJs that grew onwards from the Acid House era of the late 80's to first releasing Roni Size's music (on his and Jumpin' Jack Frost's V Recordings label), Bryan Gee has always been at the cutting edge. Today Bryan Gee remains equally committed to pushing drum n bass forward both as a DJ, label manager and promoter. In between a hectic international DJ career, managing V Recordings and co-promoting Movement (the name was coined by Gee), you'll catch Bryan mixing the freshest dubplates at Movement. Bryan's involvement with music began at 13 when he started DJing at Reggae sound-systems, but was always checking all kinds of music: from jazz, soul, funk, then rare groove and hip hop. The defining moment musically came with the emergence of acid house in 1987. A totally new sound, a totally different vibe. It was right up Bryan's street. And it was the foundation of Drum n Bass as we know it today. In essence Bryan Gee's musical history reflects the history of Drum n Bass: a unique, urban London sound influenced by a mix of musical genres that developed from Acid House, Jungle and ultimately into drum n bass. Like Bryan Gee, the music he plays never stands still and you can be sure that with every major development in drum n bass Bryan Gee will be there. And he'll probably have the music in his record box before anybody else!

By Grand Opening we mean, We are finally going to have the place set up with the New lighting, New Sound System and the begining of a dope ass saturday weekly done by Glow and Gettup Massive. Anyone who knows the setup there know it's a kickass underground spot. I spoke with Tania from UMC.. No dubstep during the set. |

i will not support this party or any party that is AGAINST any genre of music, it is just close minded and sounds like something Thomas J would do. I f*cking hate Happy Hardcore more than anything in the world and so do most people, do you see us promoting our party as NO HHC. Thats just close minded.
Usually I just keep to myself if I dont have anything nice to say about a party but this is just childish.
PS I love Hardcore but hate HHC. I grew out of that when I was 16. |

wow. how sad..
honestly most of the people that make up this scene are NOT ignorant and stuck in their ways as it so clearly may seem. these boards are kinda full of BULLSHIT. |

honestly man. The boards are really made up of the 10% that consist of the "leetsters", promoters, and djs who are for most part over-opinionated (myself included).
don't let that discourage you from coming out to the shows. If you like diversity lately its been more relevant than it ever has so come out while the parties are going good. |

collectively i disagree, IF you knew of our scene from 2004-2006 you would not be saying that.. Parties here regularly are doing 300+ and the vibe's are pretty top notch ask anyone who plays the events up here..
Between Rochester/Utica/Buffalo/Syracuse and occasional albany event there is a very TIGHT family feeling from most promoters/djs/ and party kids.. Even more so than the biggest cities I think personally much less politics here..
While I disagree with Todd putting a DNB legends at someones House, I still chatted with him prior to this and both agreed bringing bryan Gee a night after one of my events was well worth it, and would be a great idea..
We all chat and make good on our thoughts together and collectively however sometimes we dont all share the same ideas.. |

Issue is, certain styles of music bring certain styles of people, Ive had events at westcott where they have labled the events "drug" affiliated which is bullshit, But bottom line is we have yet to have ANY od's, any shootings, or any huge brawls or fights at ANY Event almost any of us have thrown.. I think the lable sget a bit out of control after awhile and quite frankly are ignorant.. We've worked iwth local authorities as best we can to keep every enviroment save for the attendance, and so far soo good "knock on wood" but.. The diversity in music were bringing slowly back into the culture, However most clubs are not into the idea.. Even trexx which is prolly the "Most" lax event club in syracuse with music tastes is not having much more to do with alternate forms of music..
its hard to push a culture that does'nt have viable venues to play it at.. and personally im done throwing "Raves" at anything illegal or anything non permitted by the city.. The clubs can properly secure situations and venues and def have much more interest in making sure the night stays striagh as possible.. |

Ok.. I see everyone's issues. These two opinions stuck out completely. I really went off the handle.. I'm not close minded, I've booked a lot of dubstep. Maybe it was my musical root that were laid by bands like NoFX, Lagwagon, Cannibal Corspe.. When I came into the scene, I was instantly drawn tbo dnb. The first dj to open my ears and make me take notice to anything but main room trance was seeing DJ Milkdud at an event in Binghamton called Swift. The first event making a HUGE impact on me (please don't call me old) Is seeing the footsouljah's at thirdgroove in ithaca, Most of m first three doing Quikk Fixx/Promotion, I promoted Chicago Hard House (now known as Jump Style), Hardcore, Hard Trance, Dnb and Happy Hardcore. I perfer louder, faster tempo upbeat stuff. Though I have always gone out of my way to preserve the old school vibe of a Chill room. |
