| Just secured this venue for either a weekly or bi-weekly event! The owner is all about supporting the local music scene and this place looks fresh! More info TBA! The start date we are aiming for is the beginning of November. |

ABOUT URBAN HEADQUARTERS: Urban HeadQuarters is a media and performing arts event facility dedicated to the struggling, but striving independent artist. We feature a comfortable multi media digital and analog pre-recording studio where we produce and edit music, film, music video(green screen technology available), graphic design, and photography while utilizing the most up to date technology in sequence editing software. (Final Cut Pro Studio 2, Shake, Motion, Photoshop CS3, Logic Pro Audio, and Cubase Audio to name a few) Urban HeadQuarters has established a platform where an up and coming artist can hone his/her skills and polish up an act. A venue where an artist can perform or get his/her entire package produced by one of our professional and experienced recording engineers, producers, writers, graphic artists, and editors. In addition to the media room, we feature "HQ BREW", our internet Cafe' where you can get a freshly ground cup of coffee and a pastry or sandwich of your choice. During your visit you can enjoy some music, video gaming, a music video on one of the flat screen televisions, a film screening on the projection screen, a game of chess, or a game of billiards. You can also visit "GT Fab" our retail shop and purchase a music cd, urban apparel, art, or some independent brand specialties. At our evening "Gallery Lounge" you can enjoy live entertainment like a music artist showcase, spoken word poetry, comedians, open mic, musicians work shop, karaoke, a dance class, or an arts and crafts lesson. Our focus is to provide the best experience for our patrons at the "Urban HeadQuarters"...

Yeah tenatively a weekly- probably for the first month, and then monthly or bi weekly bc that place has other stuff going on too. I hear you about burning out.. There's a recording studio there and tons of other stuff. It's an artsy urban mecca. Pratt kids are going to shat.

Just because everyone in utica has this mission to have this ultimate long standing weekly.. and after 11 years of not working youd think they would understand that it doesn't work no matter the idea and no matter the concept.. Its just not a very artys/musically inclined area.. Not as much culture here as other cities..
We have alot of other options going on as far as the same ideas/concepts in other areas working extemely well.. If we could get some of you on the same page and working together instead of always trying to do you own thing we could build a better scenario on all levels.. Art, Music, and attendance..
While im not one to usually complain publically.. I just get tired of seeing the same ideas recylcled into things that those same people could REALLY help build elsewhere..
I know you dont do this to really exceed beyong your realm of comfortable utica but I just hate seeing so much dedication for projects that really hold no value to there potential?
Starting another weekly/biweekly for 7 kids to sit in a club standing around hardly seems worth it?
Id loveto see more put into shit at the SKate park, or Space 26, or places that have somewhat of an appreciative crowd buliding in utica.. sted of more non sensical ideas is all..

throwing a party series at a new all age venue w. house sound, lighting, stage + a ton of other crazy stuff is non-sensical? Makes perfect sense to me. It's not just for the rave scene.. I appreciate your input man but holy crap with the negativity. ! |

Its not negative.. its criticism.. I face it every month about trexx.. And its only an opinion.. nobody said your gonan like everyone of them.. way it goes man..
Just cause your doing it doesn't mean i have to agree with it.. Just throwing out some opinions.. pretty sure anyone is entitled to do that w/out needing to explain themselves..
Gonna do it w/ or w/out my opinion im sure.. and im sure id be there to check it out.. I personally just feel like I dont foree anyone of you heear getting into spoken poetry, poem reading.. Or media.. besides possibly ivan and chris..
Studio part is amazing love that idea.. but throwing events here every week? Dunno We both know your not gonna do a multi media/artspace event every week.. its gonna be 7 djs spinning music.. Thats all im saying Doing a monthly here might be a great thing.. just to introduce some new stuff.. But again every week.. dont see it happening All of the positives of this place I dont see being utilized at a show.. maybe thats what I mean by it..
This is more of a centerfold for people to discuss rather than party is all I mean really maybe is what I mean? Love new venues.. look forward to utilizing the studio..

It looks nice, I hope it works out. Parkay is right about weeklys, nobody can attend everyweek, unless you do it on fridays. And then you run into the no booze issue for the 21+ crowd. If your crowd is decent size twice a month it looks like they generate more business, so to the owner that is a win. But letting 8-15 kids sit in your spot and not spend money week in and week out, that will get old for the owner real quick
edit: I know my opinion is pretty much null and void, just my 2 cents. Good job Kyle on snooping out a dope venue. Your gears are always spining, I respect that. |

I get ya Parkay, I think you are right about the monthly thing, that's still being worked out by the venue in any case. I have a meeting w. Rueben tonight and will be scoping out the venue.
We want to include more than just DJs for this- maybe a bit of hip hop turntablism, live instruments, 8bit stuff..
As far as the visual arts part, we want to showcase local art student's work, as well as aspiring "starving" artists. Ivan will be managing that part.
To say that Utica will never have a good underground night will get nothing accomplished towards improving the area, so we're going to give it our best shot.
Again none of this is going to start until after Halloween is over, so we're still working out the details.
I was just a little upset about your comments on how Utica only has 7 ppl come out- which simply isn't true of every case. We've had parties bomb with only 20 ppl show but we've also had decent turnouts for the size of our city. It's hit or miss just like anything else of this size. |

It's not null and void in any sense, broseph. I may be calling on your for some MCing and some hip hop connects to book here. Maybe you can drag M3 down here too.
The more I think about it, the more I think you guys are right about the weekly. |
