i know there would be a BAJILLION details to iron out and forms to jump through, but i think this type of space is exactly what the upstate "scene" needs.
a venue by the people... for the people
The problem is.. syracuse has a short attention span.. People grow to hate a venue that's used more then once. Atlantis, H20, Button's, Action Skate, Roadhaus, Trexx.. Shit even the hideaway in utica and Pirahna in Rochester. Once is gone through it's 5th event people start going "Eh? it's at Blah blah blah again?"
its hard to swallow that the decline of a club is partially/mostly due to the lack of the volume of venues to throw parties at. not saying you're wrong... its just a weird reality i guess.
how 'bout instead of opening one super venue... opening two medium-venues with different atmospheres?

i know! that was sketchy as hell but it didn't get busted, so maybe it wasn't as sketchy as it seemed. or we just got lucky. either way, it was dope. even though there was like, noone there haha |

This is exactly what I have been trying to do here at the Bridgewater School Skate Park, and it is tough going. All the details have been worked out, and we had one party on June 12th, with another coming November 13. I expected to be overrun with promoters wanting to throw parties here, but I have not had a single phone call.
We have a cafe with a real restaurant permit, and have not had any problem getting a temporary beer/wine permit for the event.

People are unappreciative when you do find a new venue too. Back when buttons was going on there was another venue that you guys had in mexico, ny and everyone was bitching too far. Too bad no one is willing to go to binghamton like they used to, also. Bing had some ill f*cking spots that would blow kids minds, 607, sugardadies (everyone of my friends from poughkeepsie loved that venue , a real CROWD PLEASER lol), etc. Everyone wants convienence and its a shame that you have to stick with syracuse's limitations on venues. If people want to bitch about variety of venues, f*ck them, the turnout for fun warehouse should have been packed out, if that's what they truly wanted. Quikk fixx 5 was a milestone for syracuse, IMO and that's when turnouts started blowing the f*ck up there again. Since trexx has accomodated us for the past five years since and helped us to maintain our scene when other cities went to shit, I don't see a problem working with them. The fact that they let you do Saturday when they don't give us Saturdays anymore shows that they're helping us and if they support us, I will continue to support them. No better spot, IMO, and thank you trexx staff for the spot that helped us become what we are today. |

That venue will get popular in time and its the best venue I have seen in years. I have been spreading the word of how phenomonal that place is. By the second or third event, I expect that place to be a major spot for shows. After promotion at quikk fixx and bubble halloween, I expect that place to kill, imo. |

That would be more likely to happen at the hotel. |
