Posted - 01/21/2009 : 08:57:56 AM I just recorded a mix but there is an underlying buzzing noise in the mix which can be heard more clearly during breakdowns. The buzzing occurs when I hook my laptop up to my mixer via the record out. Is there anyway to get rid of this buzzing noise in the current mix (I used Audacity), or a way I can prevent it from occurring in future mixes? Thx |

That would be my suggestion as well.
Good luck!

Posted - 02/21/2009 : 12:18:16 PM oh well i don't know if they have an x64 driver for your keyboard. they just refer to anything that's not currently supported as "legacy" (i.e. my older delta series 410)
as for vista being a resource hog that's debatable since it frees up superfetch memory when an app calls for it
currently on my system it's using 2.29gb of ram with a few net apps open. of course in this day and age ram is cheap and i have 8gb so wtf do i care about 2.29?
edit: if your keyboard is listed under legacy and is a keystation, oxy8, or radium, they have x64 drivers on the regular driver site |

Posted - 02/21/2009 : 09:50:00 AM OK, so i think these are the delta series drivers as they say "delta" on the title. I was looking for the Legacy drivers which is a keyboard i have. This is why i couldn't find them, i was searching legacy. Says on the board that its not looking good for the legacy drivers in the near future. I can still use the keyboard via midi so not a big deal....or is it. I have 2 devices that don't work now and 1 midi in. So this means i need another midi I/O. Ugh... 1 device for me isn't an issue but what if i have friends over..?!?!?!?!? LOL. At least they have my firewire 410 drivers ready to go. |

if yes the reason is that it does something called "prefetch" where it keeps your most used apps in memory until another app calls for memory.
so basically vista looks like it's using a lot of RAM, becuase technically it is. But that memory is managed in such a way that if another app needs it the prefetch gives it up.
you can also disable prefetch but it's actually pretty sweet.
remember you bought RAM to use it not to have it sit there.
M-Audio beta drivers are on their forums.
I realize vista is a resource hog, sounded to me like you were saying the drivers used a lot of ram. I have my vista system running 900MB at idle. Not bad, i have shut off all the "pretty" effects but this baby is for work, not play. I didn't have a choice on the OS, it came with the system. I looked on the forums and couldn't find the link, thus why i asked you. Thanks a bunch!!! |

all my audio software works so far, now that m-audio got the beta 64 bit legacy drivers out it's awesome
i don't think i'd run it on anything less than a dual core with 3gb of ram
quad core with 4+gb is the sweet spot for vista IMO
Can you post the link to the beta drivers? I have searched the mesage boards and cant seem to find it. Why does it use so much ram? |

Posted - 02/19/2009 : 09:11:29 AM In conclusion, the audio genie works. The input connection in my laptop was fuzzy, and I think it was because my original laptop power cord died, which was a two prong. Now I am using diskos three prong, and I believe that's where the buzzing came from. But yea the audio genie solved my problem, back in action =). |

Posted - 01/28/2009 : 08:25:52 AM OK, so buzzing is from the lack of a proper ground or noise on the ground from your fridge or other electronic devices. In proper studios the ground is isolated from the rest of the house and or building. I read earlier that your going from a 3 prong to a 2 prong. The 3 prong is a balanced connection which eliminates noise as it enters the cable from various sources. I recommend halving balanced connections in and out of your interface. A better quality interface does help as well. |
