this is very similar to Obama trying to get the health care reform bill passed in congress, and all the republicans (aka dubstep haters) are trying to block it. =)
this is change we can believe in!

| OK but if dubstep gets a spot what about fidget house? Fidget is a true blend of all genres dub, house, electro, bassline trance, 4x4 garage, two step, indie and dutch house |

| Whoops forgot to add harddance, techno, and breaks in there seems like this is more fitting of its own genre seeing as how it blends them all except drum and bass, but i am sure some dnb will start being mixed in there soon hey maybe i got something there hmmm. |

It's an offshoot of two step/garage/grime. Or that's where its roots are. In fact, to get a rise out of any Dubstep DJ just tell them that dubstep is just Dnb slowed down. =)
My main argument is that Dubstep is big enough now that it justifies it's own genre forum, no matter where it's roots may be. Who would I have to talk to about this? Vogel- (if you are lurking) how did you get the "hard dance" forum to get instated?

it's not at the BMP of drum N bass, which is usually 160-180. Dubstep is @ 130-140.. half tempo of course.
There is half tempo dnb, called "drumstep" which you can mix w. dnb. its basically faster paced dubstep. Ask Swan about that shiz. |

go to "new topic" and click.
I would agree that on first listen it sounds more like drum n bass than two step. So I know what you are saying.

Ya I'm not actually talking about "sounds like" I'm saying structure of the entire genre. There is a drum and a bass. Sometimes a siick vocal sample or even lyrics.
edit: Dubstep should be added somewhere and fidget for that matter just to keep with the times and have an encapsulated history for it on our beloved UU. |

should have listed it under breaks
i say, give it its own forum due to its recent popularity, then when it remains inactive like most the other forums toss it under breaks cuz it's a breaks sub-genre, not dnb not jungle |

I don't know where dubstep should go, but it's definitely NOT a sub-genre of breakbeat...the song structure and beat structure (the 2 main things that make breaks what it is) for dubstep is just too different...dubstep evolved from garage/2-step/grime, not breakbeat
if it gets it's own forum, it should be grouped together with garage, 2-step, future garage, UK Funky, bashment, grime, etc

it really doesn't matter as it will be fairly neglected like other the other music forums
(granted you've posted in them recently, yet receive no/little replies) |

Because of the popularity of the genre and how many DJs/producers on this site are into it, yes I would say it should have it's own forum.
Dubstep= the Platypus of EDM apparently. |
