It appears as if the Federal Government is cracking down on Bath Salts, the alleged source of a wave of violent and otherwise unexplainable attacks that have swept the nation. A media frenzy has surrounded the "Bath Salt" epidemic, and now following a federal ban on these substances, DEA agents are raiding local head shops to remove the drugs from the market. This should lead to a dissipation of the cannibalistic, almost non-human reactions and violent crimes that have been reported across the United States. Officials are cracking down on the sale of bath salts nationwide and federal agents and several other law enforcement agencies conducted raids at several head shop locations on Wednesday, including shops in the Mohawk Valley.
Authorities say details of enforcement efforts will be disclosed later, but sources say Tebb's Head Shop, which has locations in Utica, Herkimer, Oneida, Syracuse, and Fulton, was a target.
Some employees were seen taken away in handcuffs on Wednesday.
The raids follow the passage of a federal law that bans the sale of bath salts. President Barack Obama signed a bill into law earlier this month that bans the sale, production and possession of more than two dozen of the most common bath salt drugs.
There are reports that stores in several other states were raided at the same time and the Drug Enforcement Agency plans on releasing more information later Wednesday morning and at a news conference scheduled for Thursday.
Police are raiding shops across New York suspected of selling illegal synthetic drugs, including so-called "bath salts" that were recently banned by federal law.
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office recently filed lawsuits in 12 counties accusing 16 stores of violating state labeling laws, after investigators found head shop employees selling mislabeled bath salts. |

THE ESCAPE PLAN: A ZOMBIE TRAIN RIDE AND DANCE PARTY
You thought the Adirondacks were safe from a zombie attack? Well, guess again! After this year’s Utica Zombie Walk at the Uptown Theater the horde will be making its way to Union Station and onto the train that’s trying to escape the infestation. The train, originally making its way for the Adirondacks to escape the horde, will stop in Remsen to meet with reinforcements. Little does the crew know that there will be no one waiting for them at the depot because the zombies got to them first! In a last ditch effort… the conductor will turn the train back to Utica because he knows nothing but trouble is waiting for him in the Adirondacks.
The fully decorated train will feature the DJs: PHUNgEYE, Vogel & DA. There will be a snack and wet bar (featuring Finger Lakes wine and New York State craft brews. (The Zombie Train is a 21+ event)
