We wanted to offer an apology to all of 315 and surrounding areas regarding the mix-up between Reid, GAC (Todd), and Fused AM. There was a lapse in communication between all parties involved, which resulted in a bit of chaos. Everyone is on the same page now; Reid Speed and Annalyze will be performing a special breaks set this weekend. Again, we apologize about the confusion and hope to see everyone at the event!

In negotiations with all parties involed we have a SUPER treat for everyone.. Reid Speed will not only be part of the Cat Scratch Fever set.. but she will be spinning a dnb set as well!!!
This is really cool of Reid considering the confusion and I hope everyone makes it out to see this amazing double set!

so. thats how it came across.. all about money... my personal money was not the issue. i guess many of you dont know me and maybe dont particularly care but i have been working hard to gain an audience and respect in this scene since 1997. if you think i am in it for the money you are dead wrong. through relentless determination and doing my thing well -not just "good for a girl" - i have earned a place in drum & bass which has made me lucky enough to have a great booking agent, whom i deal with exclusively for that genre. that agency is Contagious Musiq. i have not since 2001 dealt with any other agents in this genre. but trying to make a living as a DJ is hard work, and the hustle never stops. since i dont just love drum & bass, i have made moves- releasing mixtapes, cds, even slipping a half hour of "other stuff" into my D&B sets- to get people to enjoy my other styles, which include 2 step, breaks & house. Contagious Musiq does not generally deal with these genres, so i was given their blessing to seek outside representation or help for my other projects. i am aware that i am not well-known for playing stuff besides D&B. since money does not motivate me (although i am extremely fortunate that DJing has been my full time job, albeit a low paying one, for the past 8 years) i am very willing to play those genres for less money than i get to play D&B because quite simply: i live to play music i love. you may think its weird, or you never heard of that, but i havent made it this far by worrying about what people outside of the dancefloor think about my musical choices or the way i try to handle my business. the problem i encountered when i saw the posts for this party was false advertising. at the time i posted i didnt know whose fault it was and i was desperately searching for answers with a 103 fever and strep throat, fresh off a 3 week tour. i didnt want people paying to hear me play d&b and then being pissed that we were playing breaks. it was not todd's fault. i didnt know this until todd forwarded Fused Management's contract (last night) to Contagious Musiq - which did not specify anything about what we were playing. that is where the shady or lackadazical or whatever you want to call it problem came in. not from todd. i repeat- not from todd. i apologized to him, and now i apologize to everyone for calling "the promoter" who i didnt know until yesterday- out on a message board. again: the reason i posted up here was in a desperate attempt to get someone from the party to contact me. i had zero info from Fused other than "they were looking into it & it seemed OK."
up until a week days ago i was under the assumption that this Syracuse party was a tour date for annalyze & myself. that we were doing a tour together that they could help shop it was the only agreement i had with Fused Management. perhaps it didnt occur to them at the time they drew up the contract, but they did know they were not allowed to book me to play d&b, or to book me separately from Anna. unfortunately they didnt inform Todd of this, for reasons still unclear to me. perhaps it was timing, perhaps they were busy, they forgot, or insert relevant excuse here. my brief interactions with Fused had led me to believe they were helping us with our Breaks Tour. i thought it was clear but i was wrong.
this is my public apology to GAC, Todd, and anyone else involved with the party who i may have offended or hurt in posting here to try & gain information into the situation.
the resolution, which Todd has been kind enough to post at the top of this thread, is that anna & i will play our tour set for an hour & then i will play a half hour of drum & bass for anyone who didnt get to see this post.
i hope anyone coming out finds this satisfactory, and i promise if you listen with an open mind & heart you will have a good time. this is my life- music i love. i present it to the world as the best i have to offer. i work damn hard to be good. after 9 years of work all i seek is a modicum of respect, and not to be manipulated by people out to make quick money. if i wanted quick money id be doing graphic design! i have a college degree in that but fail to feel a thing for it the way i do music. i have never viewed DJing as a path to fame or riches. anyone who does is kidding themselves & most definitely in it for the wrong reasons. but please understand when you make your love your work, and it starts to work for you, sometimes you have to stand up, speak out, and say "what the fuck is going on?" so you can get proper answers. this is not always a kind business. to stay in it you have to really stick your neck out, expose yourself to hate & criticism, just to let people know they cant take advantage of you just because you love your job and dont put money first.
